My Life as a Debutante

Ah, Debutante balls. Poofy dresses, ambitious goals, and pretty girls.
Most people think the days of Debutants are dead.

Yet, they are still very much living.
As many of you know, I am an AKA Teen. Not only do we do lots and lots of community service, but at the end of our run we throw an elegant Debutante ball. This coming school year will be my third year as a debutante. So why not tell you how I feel about it?
Nails, dresses, & coinpurses...OH MY!
The day of the ball consists of lots of pictures (and I mean LOTS), plenty of smiles, and basically broadcasting that, yes, we are smart young women and we do stuff. We basically showcase our positives and explain our dream and boast about our tip-top grades and extra curriculars.

We curtsy and walk around with cute escorts, all while making our parents and family proud.
My escort and I
Why this day would make most girls frown like a hound dog, I actually like it. The relationships I have developed with new people are great, and the opportunities this opens up are wide. Also, I have no confusion what-so-ever as to which sorority I'll be joining in two years.
So what is the moral of this post? Well, I don't actually know. But the next time you turn up your nose to the word Debutante, make sure you think twice.

XOXO
