So Long, 2012!

It's time to meet my new love, 2013 ! This is crazy because I seriously still remember the beginning of 2012 like it was yesterday. Now we're onto 2013! I not only graduate from HS this year, but I start college at Northwestern! I can't help but to wonder in my mind, "Where did the time go?" It's a new season, a new day, a fresh anointing! And though many people criticize them and label them as corny, I do have a few New Years resolutions that I plan on taking care of: Getting closer to God Blogging more Let go of fake friends Stop being a doormat Be happy with the skin I'm in Be more forgiving and less judgmental (this is a BIG one) These are the most important things to me. I need everything to be FINALIZED in 2013; who's with me, where I'm going, and who I am. All of this adds to me becoming a better me. Do any of you have any resolutions or plans for improvement? How do you plan on getting them done? How are you spen

Hello all again! Happy holidays and all that jazz.... Just blogging to show my latest creation, AFRICAN PRINT CROSS BODY BAG! And I made it all by myself (well, my mom did help me)! And, boy was it a process. I had to keep cutting and sewing and threading and measuring. But all of the hard work paid off with a very chic purse to carry. Though this isn't really my finished project (still want to tighten up the strap and give it a lining), it's 97% done. Want a look? I mostly love it because of the print. Remember the post I made a little while ago oozing love for African printed fashions? Well, when I glanced at the African printed granny blouse in my local thrift store, I couldn't pass it up! What do you think? How do you like the print? How's your winter break going? XOXO -S

Oh, and BTW.....

I GOT ACCEPTED INTO N ORTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY !!!! Yes indeedy, all of that hard work and dedication paid off (not to mention those late nights)!! I opened the letter and honestly could not believe my eyes! The school I've been dreaming of going to since the 8th grade and finally attending there is a reality! Honestly I'm extremely happy, but I know two people alone who also applied and didn't get in, so along with happiness IS HUMBILITY and MODESTY! I give thanks to my Father upstairs and everyone else who has helped me get to this place. Anyone else have some big news? XOXO -S

Happy Holidays!

Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Happy Kwanzaa! Happy Holidays ! 'Tis the season to be jolly for sure as we head into Christmas Eve! Soon, as we have seen countless times, the year will come to an end! But, what's special about the upcoming 2013 year is that: I graduate in 2013! I start college in 2013! I turn 18! So as we get ready for Christmas, let's look over some of the staples of this holiday season! (that pertain to me) #1-  Make sure you don't just get caught up in holiday hoopla, be grateful for what you have and what you get, even if you aren't super religious! #2- Don't forget who you are! Whether you get together with family or celebrate Kwanzaa of Hanukkah, do something that gives insight on YOU! This year, I'm going to try and embrace my Kwanzaa.  #3- I had to do it. Last, but not least, HAVE FUN! Whether you head to an ugly Christmas sweater party, or go ice skating, or bake cookies for Santa, take some time aw

I'm back! Yesh I am! Before I go on about my latest love, let's do a recap on life, shall we? School is.....going. AP classes are kicking my butt , but hey, I knew they would from the beginning. I'm just hoping that I'll pull through in time for the end. And in time for graduation!!! Cannot wait! I get my decision back from Northwestern in T-5 days! And yes, I am experiencing a vast array of emotions regarding it. But whatever is meant to be, will be . OKAY , onto this new obsession: AFRICAN PRINT EVERYTHING! From kente cloth to the vibrant yellows and reds and greens, it's just so lovable! Look: Bustier OMGOMGOMG African print harem pants? Yes please! As if I didn't love the Knowles' sisters enough...... Seriously, how can one not like this stuff? Even if you aren't African or of African descent, it's still beautiful! One place that sells authentic African jewelry and accesories is Umba  (yes, I've been doing resea
