Before I get My Hair Braided...

Hello All!!

No poem today (though I encourage you to read them if you haven't already), but I do have a hair update! I'll be going back to the box braid life this Friday! I'm super happy, because I've been needing to do a protective style for a while, but I needed some time with my curls. Well, that needed time has ended and a sista is ready for some braids!

Here's a pic of me last time I had braids:

This was last Spring! I loooooved these braids, y'all! 

It was a great time of long length, waking up later in the mornings (hallelujah), and being creative. You can see some gold braid cuffs on them, while I'll be getting again this time, but they'll be even cuter ;) stay tuned, Bridge to Bliss!

BUT before I get it braided and even before I wash/blow dry my hair tomorrow, here's a lil' shout out to Solace for thriving these past couple of months. This one's for Sol.

On NYE/New Year's morning, we had a Vision Board Party! That's a braid out!

Most people think it's outrageous to wear your hair out during the Winter season, but Solace really held up and thrived. Now, it's time for her to relax. :) I'll post pics of my braids on Friday!!!

Remember Why You Started

Monday started another week of shuffling through LinkedIn, Glassdoor, Jopwell and other various job boards. Another week of sending my resumé out into a black hole and crossing my fingers that this would be the "one." Monday started another week of asking for grace so that I would no longer have to dread hearing that "so, what are your plans for after graduation?" question. Luckily, Monday didn't end the way it started. Bienvenidos a Argentina: Be Kind to Yourself

Today marks the end of 2017's first full week! I hope the year is off to a rejuvinating start for everyone. Oh, and today also marks the end of my first week in Buenos Aires, Argentina! For those of you who don't know, I'll be interning here until the end of March. As any journalist would, I definitely did my homework on Argentina before getting here. The food, the music, the culture at large - and how I would fit in with it. As with any place, there's a variety of experiences people had. Here are some of mine, as well as thoughts and some photos I took along the way. Being in Argentina has already showed me the beauty in slowing down. In the U.S., and ESPECIALLY at universities like Northwestern, it is extremely normalized to stay busy and moving at 300000 mph. If we're idle, we're being inefficient.
